Julia Arias

Julia AriasDra. Julia Arias graduated in Physical Sciences at the University of Salamanca, and she obtained the PhD in Sciences at the Polytechnical University of Madrid. Since 2001 she is Associate Professor of Electronic Technology at the Department of Materials Science, Optics and Electronic Technology

She initiated her research activity through a FPI scholarship from the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science, to develop a PhD Thesis in the field of simulation and characterization of quantum well lasers, under the supervision of Prof. Ignacio Esquivias Moscardó. In 1998-99 se stayed as postdoctoral fellow a the Thomson-CSF (current Thales).

Since then, her research activity is focused on theoretical and experimental activities in the field of semiconductor lasers, mainly high power lasers and vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers, as well as in the field of multilayer optical filters and light propagation in media with anomalous dispersion, being coauthor of more than 15 international publications.

She has more than 15 years experience in teaching different subjects in the area of electronic technology, mainly in electronics instrumentation and optoelectronics.

Since 2011 she has been the Director of the Depertment of Materials Science, Optics and Electronics Technology at University Miguel Hernandez.
